Este es un proyecto académico que pretende proporcionar información sobre la historia,
características y situación actual de las artes escénicas de Corea tanto tradicionales
como contemporáneas. El sitio está en construcción y en continuo desarrollo.
Como compositora nacida en Corea y educada en Corea y los Estados Unidos, la
música de Jeeyoung KIM armoniza los aspectos culturales únicos de las tradiciones
orientales y occidentales.
Jeeyoung Kim ha recibido premios y reconocimientos de National Endowment for
the Arts (NEA), ASCAP, International Alliance for Women in Music (IAWM), National
Association of Composers, USA (NACUSA), Meet the Composer, SCI/ASCAP, Britten-on
the Bay competition, Radcliffe Institute, Harvard University (Bunting Fellowship),

Atlantic Center for the Arts, Aspen Music Festival, y Norfolk Chamber Music Festival.
Además se le han comisionado muchas obras y su música ha sido interpretada por

KIM estudió composición en la Universidad Yonsei en Seúl, Corea, recibiendo allí
su grado en Música. Luego se trasladó a los Estados Unidos en donde estudió su Maestría
en la Universidad de Indiana. En Mayo de 2001 recibió el Doctorado en Artes Musicales
en la Universidad de Yale. En 2001-2002 le fue otorgada la beca Bunting de la Universidad
de Harvard, en donde además de componer hizo investigación en música y filosofía
En la actualidad trabaja en una composición comisionada para el famoso cellista
Yo-Yo Ma y su Silk Road Ensemble, obra que será estrenada en Carnegie Hall en Septiembre
de 2006, un trio para Dae-Geum, violin y cello para el Trio Yang que será estrenado
en Seúl, Corea y en Francia para la celebración de los 120 años de relaciones diplomáticas
entre Corea y Francia. Adicionalmente trabaja en obras para The Creative Music Troup
del National Center for Korean Traditional Performing Arts, y en una nueva pieza
para Alexander String Quartet.

1994 In July, Fellow composer in the Composition Advanced Master Class at the
Aspen Music Festival, studied with Jacob Druckman and Bernard Rands, and performed
A Piece for Peace and Mourning.
1994 In August, "Octet" was chosen by ISCM in Seoul, Korea.
1993 In April, "Gastroenteritis" for electronic music was performed at Indiana
